A client of ours asked us to do monthly updates on Mission Hills real estate. Well, being the area that we live in, why not!
How many homes do you think that are on the market for Mission Hills real estate? Let’s make it a pop quiz….35? 53? 77? 84?
Now, first of all, I have to say that we pulled up only detached homes and throughout the 92103 zip code for real estate. This means that much of Hillcrest would not be covered, mainly only Mission Hills.
Mission Hills is a neighborhood of San Diego, CA. It overlooks Old Town (my home and the birthplace of California), and is close to the bay and North of Downtown. The Mission Hills area was home to many pioneers so you will note the historical and architectural renderings throughout the neighborhood.
Captain Henry Johnston’s daughter (who guided his ship to Inspiration Point ) built the very first home in Mission Hills naming it Villa Orizaba. More homes followed and if you take a drive through the Mission Hills area, you will see that many homes have applied for the Mills Act and subsequently have the not only had the advantage of paying less tax but have a placard placed on their home.
It is one of San Diego’s oldest and best preserved neighborhoods and it features historic homes in a variety of styles including Caftsman, parairie homes, Spanish and Mission Revival. For over 100 years it has been a thriving residential and commercial community with gorgeous tree-lined streets.

Crowning the hub of San Diego, the community of Mission Hills neighbors Downtown, Balboa Park, three primary freeways and the great Pacific, Mission Hills is full of landsdaping and a lush refuge from the bustle of city life. The total population by the most recent census is 3,052. 86.74% of the homes in Mission Hills were built before 1959, and a quarter of our resident a re professionals with another 10% in administration and management and 9% in technical support.
Mission Hills is home to Kate Sessions and you can tell, from the historic Mission Hills Nursery to all of the lush landscaping surrounding the area, this is by far one of the neighborhoods with the best manicured landscaping, bushes, shrubs, and colorful flowers and trees.
So what does it cost to live in this mini Paradise you ask? Well…bring your checkbook, it is not La Jolla, but it most definitely is a prestigous area!
Being one of the pricier zip codes in San Diego County, the lowest priced home currently on the market is $384,900.00 and has been on the market for 65 days. The most expensive 92103 real estate? $3,290,000.00.
There were 9 sales in the last 30 days, 26 have gone pending, and….if you guessed “84” as the number of properties currently active on the market, you were right!
