Call Your Senator Today, Big Lenders Are Strongly Opposing the Appraisal Bill!
What an odd spiderweb the real estate industry can be. Big lenders are forcefully opposing the new appraisal bill because they own Appraisal Management Companies and profit from the additional appraisals!
Wednesday May 5th there will be a vote in the Senate, Banking, Finance, and Insurance committee .
What is this bill? If a buyer must change lenders, the bill protects the buyer from paying twice. It is unfair and unnecessary to require a home buyer to pay $300-$600 dollars twice just to pad the lenders’ pockets. See more here.
You can call Senator Christine Kehoe at 1(800) 672-3135 and ask to vote YES on SB 1000
To follow up on this, thanks for the calls I got yesterday and questions about how the appraisals currently work. The bill was not voted on. Lender groups and opposition made passage to the committee impossible.
