Jump on the San Diego Train!
We’re taking a break from just real estate today to talk about exciting San Diego stuff!
We all know that everything is intertwined, the economy does well, more people have money to spend, more restaurants flourish, more homes are sold, you get the picture…
Well, California was given the opportunity in the last elections to vote on a high speed rail, and the vote was YES. A recent survey shows that Californians support the state’s effort to build eight hundred miles of steel track linking Sacrament to San Diego and they want it to be completed as quickly as possible.
But even more exciting?
Expectations are not only for an enhanced transportation network in the future, but also a stronger Californian economy and in the short term tens of thousands of quality jobs.
Call me crazy, but I have to celebrate it all, even the little stuff. Any news of new jobs being created makes me happy.
The work of making the high speed rail a reality, especially here in San Diego has commenced. The proposed Los Angeles to San Diego section of the highspeed train project is 167 miles long and travels east from Los Angeles Union station to the Inland Empire cities of Pomona and Ontario before turning south along either the I-25 or I-15 to San Diego.
Right now, they are planning a station to be situated at the Qualcomm Stadium trolley location in Mission Valley or one other trolley stop, before the train heads to downtown San Diego.
Travel time from LA to San Diego is estimated at 1 hour and 18 minutes!
This project is the largest in the US. They are projecting 14,100 boardings daily in LA which will drop the usually traffic jams on I-5, I-805, and the I-15.
The project will include four counties, over 100 cities, two railroads, four rail transit systems and three Caltrans districts.
The project is still in the review phase, but can’t wait to see less people guzzling gas and more vacationers easily travel between LA and San Diego – two hot destination cities!
